The Happiness Equation


If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’re not happy with something right now – whether it’s your level of success, your love life, or maybe even everything about your life. And that’s okay FOR NOW, because you didn’t know how to change it. But once you read this, there will be NO turning back and you will HAVE TO start changing your unhappy life.

Every day I would go out and work hard be successful, and only dream that it would make me happy in the end. This drained all the motivation I got, because I would be working for a goal that I could never seem to reach. Every time I hit one goal, I was never content with myself because there was always more work ahead of me I thought I had to focus on instead, and I felt like I couldn’t be happy until I got ALL the (never ending) work done.

Then I found a book that CHANGED EVERYTHING. It’s a simple book, The Happiness Equation by Neil Pasricha, and it breaks happiness into just that – an equation. The way it’s originally laid out, you believe that if you work hard then you’ll be successful, and then you’ll be happy. And that’s WRONG. But all you have to do to fix it is turn the last part into the first, be happy first and the rest will come. When you’re happy, you work harder, and THAT makes you successful.

I could go on and try and explain everything behind that, but it’s really that simple. Just start enjoying the little things in life, and make sure you’re okay with enjoying them alone. Start enjoying your current meals, whether alone or with someone, and your meals will start to GET BETTER. Stop chasing after things, you’ll never reach them that way. Just be happy now, and everything will fall into place.
