Always Be on the Offense

3 min read

Just a rant - One of the biggest things I want to eliminate is the fear and even the debate of spending time, money, and energy on producing content on social media as a branding and marketing tactic.

There's this mentality that doing this is one big expense of resources that could be going somewhere else that will be more "useful". To where .. print, pre-roll, and banner ads that YOU yourself don't even click or read?

It hit me after hearing Gary Vaynerchuk say that in today's modern era of the internet, creating content and being a media publisher first then your product or service second is the cost of entry for relevancy.

The things that I and everybody I know interact with the most are things that we have heard by either word of mouth or by things we follow because of the content that they produce, not by the ads they spam.

Please please please, shift your paradigm from an expense to an invest mentality when it comes to content branding and to do this you must realize that:

1. It takes a lot more time to be effective than traditional marketing

2. It takes a large amount of creative processes (if youre IQ heavy, find someone who is EQ heavy)

3. You're building relationships first then transactions and sales second

This is just not a marketing tactic or strategy, it is a universal principal and a way of life and we should use this same principal in the digital form. You give first then ask.

Being skeptical about content branding on social is a defensive move. Be on the offense and invest and take action. Start producing content and distributing at scale!
